Gateway Clinic receives 2003 Quality Improvement Award as Outstanding Clinic

Northstar Physicians, an independent physician network, recently announced that Gateway Clinic was the recipient of the 2003 Quality Improvement Award as the Outstanding Clinic. The award is given annually to the clinic that displays individual performance that reaches far beyond the requirements and care standards established by the organization

Gateway has had a history of having good performance in the Northstar Quality Improvement Programs. In 2003, Gateway demonstrated outstanding percentages of improvement in all areas measured by Northstar, and were leaders in each of the programs.

“We are very pleased to receive this award” said Bill Palmer, Administrator at Gateway Clinic.  “This award is a result of the dedication and hard work from our physicians, providers, and all of our staff.” Palmer also noted the contributions of Dr. Kelly Goeb, Medical Director, and Sue Karkela, RN, Quality Improvement Coordinator for Gateway Clinic. “Both Dr. Goeb and Sue have done an excellent job in leading our Quality Improvement Programs, we appreciate their work and efforts”.

The Clinic is working hard on Quality Improvement Projects for 2004.  QI Programs for this year include: Patient Safety, Hypertension Management, Tobacco Cessation, Diabetes Management, Asthma Management, and Child & Teen Checkups.
